Whether you're dropping in for a quick takeout sandwich or settling in for a flavorful bowl of soup, Thien An impresses with both variety and quality.
The restaurant’s menu reads like a vibrant showcase of Vietnam’s culinary highlights. Their Banh Mi Dac Biet is often praised for its harmonious blend of savory meats, creamy pate, and crisp, tangy pickled vegetables — a perfect balance of textures and flavors. Sandwiches such as the Banh Mi Cha Lua (pork sausage) and the vegetarian-friendly Banh Mi Tofu offer equally satisfying options, each served on freshly baked bread that adds a pleasant crunch with every bite.
For those seeking heartier fare, the Pho Dac Biet Combination Beef offers a deeply aromatic broth, rich with the essence of slow-simmered bones and accented by tender cuts of beef. The Banh Xeo Vietnamese Crepe is a definite must-try—golden and crisp on the outside, yet filled with a savory mixture that delighted customers who called it "incredible" for its perfect texture and flavor balance. Fans of lighter offerings love the Duck Salad, which brings refreshing citrus notes and tender duck into a colorful, crisp assembly.

Customer reviews highlight the friendly, efficient service that makes ordering especially easy and pleasant, with staff who are both attentive and knowledgeable. While the buzz of activity keeps the energy lively, the restaurant maintains a warm, inviting feel that makes you want to linger a little longer.
Drinks like the Vietnamese iced coffee and mango bubble tea round out the dining experience, providing refreshing and authentic beverages that perfectly complement the rich and savory dishes. Though a few patrons have noted occasional drink menu limitations, the overall consensus celebrates the restaurant for its consistent, vibrant food and friendly vibe.
Whether you're a Houston local or just passing through, Thien An Sandwiches delivers a memorable taste of Vietnam’s culinary heritage. From the crispy, flavor-packed Banh Mi to the fragrant, comforting Pho, every dish is a celebration of authentic flavors executed with care and passion. It is an excellent choice for anyone craving genuine Vietnamese cuisine in a friendly, welcoming environment.
My God this is one of the best restaurants in the US. The Bahn Xeo is incredible. Loved the duck salad too. Didn't love ca phe sua da but whatever. Bahn xeo can make up for many many many sins.
Came here in the morning for a quick bite before my errands. I got the banh mi dac biet. The sandwich was crispy in breading and fold and nice in the meat filling with the paté bam and pickled veggies. The jalapenos were fresh with a nice kick. It was decently sized and priced. The staff was very friendly and quick with the service. This is a very big restaurant so there is plenty of seating and parking in general. Very convenient in midtown near the metro for access.
Wonderful quick service. The food was fresh and flavorful. I enjoyed it immensely and highly recommend it!
10-10-25: Upon entering the restaurant around 4:30PM, I was immediately greeted upon reaching the 'wait to be seated' area and asked "dine-in or to-go". After informing the attendant to-go I was ushered towards the cashier where I viewed the menu and placed the order for a tofu Banh Mi sandwich with pate. Just prior to ordering the drink the attendant indicated that they did NOT have any smoothies available. So much for the Tropical Smoothie (mango, pineapple, and passionfruit) I wanted to try, so I requested a green tea drink with lychee flavor and boba. I asked the attendant if they have to-go menus. Unfortunately they do not but I was permitted to take pictures while moving carefully around staff as they mopped the floor around the ordering and payment areas. The tofu in the banh mi was quite good; better than Oui Banh Mi on Richmond. The bread had nice texture and the veggies were fresh. The pate was just OK - in my opinion better pate can be found at Parisian Bakery located in the same strip center location as Viet Hoa on BW 8 and Bissonnet (Parisian bakery is to the right of Viet Hoa). I'm glad that boba was in the green tea with lychee flavor beverage because it was unsweetened - at least it tasted OK and it's probably healthier without the added sugar . Above average, consistent food. Wide range of food selections to fit all type of craves. They have banh mi (sandwiches). Vietnamese iced coffee is good here. They are closed on Saturdays so be aware.
Very good experience at Thien An. This is not a show stopper restaurant but they deliver good quality food at competitive prices. Probably not the most authentic Vietnamese experience in Houston but a solid choice if you are in the area. The peanut sauce with the shrimp rolls lacked Vietnamese authentic taste. The Banh Mi was OK but we had better elsewhere. The real standout that we recommend that you order is the Banh Xeo : portion is huge and the ingredients were very authentic and tasted terrific with the proper side greens and sauce. We would go back in a heartbeat for this dish. Service was friendly, fast and efficient, five stars there. Inside decoration and atmosphere is warm as a shopping mall. While we do appreciate that tables are far in between, the overall impression is of efficiency first and foremost. Easy to pay at the counter when you are ready, efficient. Overall recommended place for a quick lunch. P.S.: please leave a if this review was somewhat useful and thank you for that
